On April 2 – 3, 2016, Management Solutions, LLC (MSLLC) participated in the 2016 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon. MSLLC has participated in the marathon for years, but for the
last six years, has participated in the Fittest Company Challenge. The Fittest Company Challenge encourages area businesses to participate in a friendly competition that promotes a healthy lifestyle, boosts company spirit and provides a fun way for employees to interact outside the office. Training and running with a coworker is great accountability and pushes you to do things you could not or would not do on your own.
The contest is designed to encourage participation by companies of all sizes and employees at all fitness levels. There are categories for large (>500 employees), medium (101-500 employees) and small (1-100 employees) companies, and employees can participate in any event as a runner, walker or volunteer.
As part of the contest, MSLLC earns one point for each mile completed by an employee who finishes a race. For example, an employee completing an entire marathon earns 26.2 points; a half-marathon earns 13.1 points; a four-person relay team earns 6.55 points per person; and 5K earns 3.2 points.
With only 35 employees, Management Solutions, has been proud to place as high as second in the small business category.
The Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon has grown to become the largest competitive road race in East Tennessee. All races have an exciting finish on the 50-yard line inside Neyland Stadium with the thrill of see themselves on the JumboTron as they cross the finish line.
Proceeds from the marathon benefit the Knoxville Track Club’s youth athletic program as well as Covenant’s Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center Innovative Recreation Cooperative (IRC), which encourages people with disabilities to pursue leisure and sports activities including hand cycling, which is one of the races in the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon.
